Guanajuato - Photogfest

This weekend a good friend and co-worker and I drove down to Guanajuato to check out the sights. It took us about 6hrs to get there but it was so worth it. We stayed at a nice hotel right downtown called "La Casa del Agua". Guanajuato was settled in the 1500's because of they found massive amounts of Silver. The city was built on top of a river system and so you can travel around the city in now waterless canals/tunnels under the city or on the bustling streets themselves. I was happy to ditch the car as soon as I could because navigating the streets was a nightmare. Anyway, it's an awesome city rich in the arts and a place I highly recommend checking out. Here are a bunch of photogs from the trip.

This is my first attempt at HDR. HDR is when you take multiple photos of the same scene with different exposures. Then you merge them together to get a very well exposed photo. You like it?

The city used these old mining carts all over the city as decorations.

Every Friday and Saturday night a group of musicians walk the streets and sing with anyone who wants to join them. There are statues of different famous musicians scattered around the city.

Nice work andrew.. looking forward to our time together in a few weeks to take some photos. For the HDR, did you use photomatix or just photoshop? Did you think of doing HDR for the church at all?

Baby Ruth?....I used photomatix. I used their trial version and tried to clone out their watermark...if you look closely I did a terrible job. I'm going to buy it when I get my mac next week.
HDR would have been great in the church but I didn't have my tripod at that time.
I'm looking foward to shooting with you too...any ideas on locations?

sloth love chunk
not sure on locations... van city or if we really wanted a long day we could ferry/bus to victoria. In the process of upgrading to a 40d for lousie and selling the 20d. If you want to shoot studio then come on by and get some shots with the family.
