Casa Madero

Casa Madero is a winery between Saltillo and Torreon in a town called Parras. Not to be mistaken for Paris. Yesterday we spent a couple of hours touring, photoging and (a wee bit of) tasting. The winery was founded in 1597 by the Spaniards. It's quite the compound. When you are there you can kind of imagine what it would have been like 400 years ago...It's not just a winery, there is a church, a common hall and a bunch of housing still there.

Here are a few of our favourite pics.

I love this photo because it completely captures Eva's style. The contrast of her clothes versus the others is great.

The walkways are all covered by vines. I'm sure in the summer it is quite spectacular.

Eva and Micah in the main hall. I love Micah's smile in this one.

Lots of wine! Cliff Claven fact: The barrels come from Canada! The wine sits from as little as 6 months to as much as 2.5 years in the barrels. Depends on the quality.

I suppose this barrel has seen it's share of wine.
